Sorboni Banerjee reports for ABC6 in the morning... bringing you live coverage of breaking news and other major
stories as you start every weekday. Born and raised in West Kingston, Rhode Island, Banerjee's very happy to be home, reporting
for a state she knows and loves.
Banerjee comes to ABC6 from NBC25 in Hagerstown, MD where she was the weekend anchor and a general assignment
reporter. While there, Banerjee produced, shot, and edited shows and stories for a 4-state viewing area. Her one-man-band
adventure took from MD to PA, WV to VA where she covered everything from murders to monster trucks, politics to pig races.
Prior to NBC25, Banerjee worked right here at ABC6 at the assignment desk. And before that, she was in the nation's
capital as the Washington DC correspondent for the NH Keene Sentinel and TV intern for BELO's capital news bureau, where she
worked to cover Sept. 11th, the anthrax attacks and the crash of American Airlines flight 587 over Rockaway, NY. Banerjee
also interned in the newsrooms of New England Cable News in Newton, WHDH in Boston, and WPRI/WNAC in Providence.
Banerjee graduated from Boston University's College of Communication, where she studied broadcast journalism and
international relations. While at BU, Sorboni anchored and reported for the college's cable news show, hosted a radio news
show, and wrote for the university's newspaper.
A true native of the Ocean State... when Banerjee's not on the air, she's on the beach all summer long. She enjoys
spending time with her family and friends. Banerjee also loves painting, theater and creative writing, and travelling to visit
her relatives in Calcutta, India.
Sorboni has interned in the newsrooms of New England Cable News, Boston's NBC7 WHDH, and CBS12 WPRI/WNAC in Providence.
At Boston University, Sorboni produced, anchored and reported for her college's local access cable news show and radio station.
